There probably won’t be many Hollister-branded clothes in your closet if you’re over 25. However, asking teenagers if they know Hollister Company and the typical reply will be, “Of course.” Hollister is the quintessential brand for teens worldwide. The company believes that we have the spirit of an eternal summer hidden within us. At Hollister, summer isn’t just a season; it’s a state of mind.
So who wouldn’t want to work here? I mean, with the laid-back California surfs-up endless summer vibe, I’m in! So come on, let’s rock those job interview questions with answers that sizzle.
The key qualities needed to secure a position with Hollister are friendliness, enthusiasm, confidence, and liking and knowing fashion.
Did You Know?
In one of my previous articles on interviewing, I highlighted some psychological tips to help nail your interview. I am now listing a few more for you to ponder.
1. Job interviewers focus on four main concerns during your interview
- Why do you want to work here?
- Are you able to do the job?
- Will you fit in with the culture of the company?
- What sets you apart from the other candidates?
Providing stellar answers to these questions requires thorough research about the company and the position you are interviewing for.
2. Demonstrate reflective listening during your interview
This communication technique includes three parts – focusing, mirroring, and paraphrasing. Interviewers want to be able to tell that you understand their feelings and what they are saying. By listening reflectively, you convey that you’re paying close attention, which can lead to a positive relationship with your potential employer.
Let me give you an illustration:
The interviewer says: “Although the store is fast-paced, you must be courteous while working efficiently.” Your response “My goal is to provide the best shopping experience for guests, which can only be achieved by working efficiently and politely. Customer satisfaction comes first.”
3. A study conducted by Timothy Judge says you only have four minutes to make an impression. Make each moment count by being well prepared.
Application Process
Please bear in mind that you must be at least 16 years old to qualify for most positions with Hollister. Applicants must complete an online application through the company’s employment application page. You may also apply in person at one of their stores.
Once your application is submitted, you will be given a choice of interview dates.
A Few Tricks of the Trade
- Before submitting your application, stop by the store you’re applying to. Strike up a conversation with an employee working there to build rapport. Ask if you may use them as a reference. Having a referral is a great way to rise above the competition.
- Prepare to wear a more casual outfit to the interview; even sport one of Hollister’s designs so they see you have enthusiasm for and know their style. (The only exception to this rule would be if you are interviewing for a management position. In this case, dress business formal).
- It is always a good idea to follow up after an interview. Meet with the manager in person to determine the status. If the position you applied for didn’t pan out, they might keep you in mind for another job opening in the future.
